Walking the dog with a toddler that walks too slowly

I have got a bit of a problem. I want to walk the dog but I can’t rely on the pushchair any more and Miss A is slow! Too slow for our dog. And then there is the weather.

So I need to find a way to walk the dog with Miss A in tow. I want Miss A to stop using the pushchair soon..she is 2 1/2 years old.

In terms of the weather. We all need waterproofs I think as Preston has very wet weather this time of year…it is raining now. So I need to get Miss A a proper rain coat, waterproof trousers and some more welly socks!

I need to invest in some wellies too. I only have walking shoes and they are not really appropriate for muddy puddles! In fact I need waterproof clothing too. I only have a bright yellow cycling jacket that is way too big for me! This is going to get rather expensive!

So if you have any suggestions/recommendations for dog walking with a slow toddler then please leave a comment. This is the first year that I feel bad about using a pushchair, especially when Miss A walks well, just a little too slow for our lovely dog!

I know just what you mean. I had a bit of a solution, but it is a bit of a fudge. We use a backpack carrier and only put The Pickle in when we felt appropriate (we would never have bought one but when given it it became invaluable). Having said that Pickle is now 6 and I have not got daily walks with her Sussex, just at weekend – I do the dog walking mainly when she is at school. You sound so resourceful I am sure you will think of the best solution 🙂
