Miss A loves playdough but I can’t stand paying for the little pots as she only treads it in the carpet and it was getting expensive so I have made my own. I used plain flour, salt, oil, water and food colouring. I also put some vanilla essence in the mixture to make it smell nice. I had all of these ingredients in the cupboard so it cost me nothing extra. The only thing I have to get next is different colours of food colouring.
I got the recipe for the playdough from Morrison’s M Savers event leaflet.
The recipe is:
250g plain flour
50g salt
140ml water
1 – 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
You can add food colouring and flavouring to the mix to make it more appealing!
So here is my first attempt at playdough.
I am so pleased it worked as it would save me a fortune. I still will buy the real thing as I would like to get some of the kits for Miss A when she is older, but for now I shall make my own!
Clever you!

I keep meaning to have a go of this, but I never seem to get round to it. I’m definitely going to have a go as I get so downhearted when I buy brand new pots of Play Doh for Sausage and find them left open and completely hard, and I won’t mind so much if it’s home made cheap stuff!

My sister-in-law is brilliant at making playdoh, and puts colours and smell in it too! The kids love her more than me…
