Miss A has certainly tried several bottles for her water and juice over the past three years, ranging from baby bottles, to bottles that have developed for specific ages and now she has been testing a SIGG bottle to try out. I have been trying to get her away from toddler cups and bottles for a while and I must admit I am finding it easier now to let her have a cup with a straw or a cup with a handle in the house but when we are travelling, she still needs a spill-proof bottle. I think the SIGG bottle has helped me achieve this! It is perfect for her.

We have tried toddler cups that say that they are spill-proof but after a few washes in the dishwasher, they lose that functionality. The thing with the SIGG is that you shouldn’t put it in the dishwasher so this could make it last longer and it is rather easy to clean anyway! Miss A loves it and she loves the fact it is all pink and pretty!

I was sent a SIGG bottle with a screw top and I love it! I must admit the fact that you can’t put hot liquids in this particular one is a a tiny bit of a pain as I would like to take tea with me sometimes but SIGG do make bottles suitable for hot liquids, I think I need to invest in one!

We take our bottles everywhere and it has saved us so much money by stopping us from buying single use drinks! Plus I can be sure that I have more healthier drinks than the drinks I would buy for myself…namely fizzy drinks.

There are several types of bottles that SIGG do and they can be found on the SIGG website.

I was sent a Discovery Fajita kit and a jar of Cajun seasoning so I could enter the Discovery Challenge and enter to win a prize of a trip to Center Parcs. Little did I realise that we were going to Wales at the weekend and have a poorly girl before the deadline. Plus I simply run out of ingredients to go with this.

I have had similar kits before but always the mild ones. My mum got some really spicy ones once and that put me off spicy food for life.

So this lunchtime I did my best to use some of the ingredients and cook myself some very basic fajitas. I am vegetarian so we use Quorn for the main of the fajitas. I didn’t have anything else to add. No peppers and no onions. I was rather gutted but to be fair I want to save the rest of the kit for when my fiancé comes home tonight and have the rest. So after I pick up my daughter from preschool we are going to get the necessary ingredients and we are going to have a mini feast! I will update this blog post with pictures of how exactly we have our fajitas which is rather basic. We just add onions and peppers.

Now how did I find these fajitas? Well assuming that I do not like spicy food and this pregnancy has made me HATE food like this, I can honestly say that I LOVED these fajitas! The seasoning can be added as to how you like it, which is great. I put on quite a bit and I still enjoyed it! I think my pregnancy food aversion has gone! Thank goodness for that! Food was getting boring. I really can’t wait for tonight. I could easily have a few more fajitas but I won’t be greedy!

I will be having the Cajun Season and Sauce another Day!

We were sent Silentnight Complete Kids Bedset from The Bedding Company to review.

I am rather pleased with this set. The only thing I do not like is the waterproof cover for the mattress but then it needs to be waterproof and will be a necessary addition to Miss A’s bed when we are working on her being dry at night. The duvet and pillow, although thin, is suitable for Miss A’s needs. She loves her new duvet and pillow. It is her first single duvet. It keeps her nice and warm and covers her up better than a cotbed duvet. She looked so small in the bed the first time she used it.

I have yet to wash the duvet and pillow. I will do that after a few months or if Miss A gets it dirty/wet so can’t comment on how well it washes yet, but for the cost of the set, it is good value.

Overall I am very impressed with this duvet set. I am sure the waterproof mattress protector will be well loved once Miss A tries to be dry through the night.

Miss A was sent some Munchkin Bath Letters and Numbers to test out.

These letters are made of foam and they grip to the bath and tiles really well. Miss A loves them! They even stick to skin, but obviously don’t hurt! I think these will be a favourite of Miss A’s for a long time yet as at the moment she is too young to spell words so that will come later on, not that there are many words to spell as there are only one of each letter and number. Perhaps that’s the only recommendation I have is for the pack to have multiple numbers and letters or perhaps have an ‘expansion pack’ for when the child reaches the age that they learn to spell and count. Perhaps this pack could have maths symbols as well?

The numbers and letters fit perfectly in the Bath Toy Scoop that we were sent as well, along with the Grippy Dots that we were also sent! The three things make bathtime fun, safer (with the Grippy Dots being on the bottom of the bath) and easier with the use of the Bath Toy Scoop! One thing I will say is like with all foam things, once bitten, you have lovely teeth marks in them forever!

All in all a fun and potentially educational product!

I was kindly sent two bottles to review. I gave them to Miss A to review as I don’t really have a drink while out and it is normally a drink that I have bought in a cafe..plus I am not a lover of drinking out of straws (personal choice). So for the past couple of months Miss A has been testing these.

So far she has drunk out of them with no problem at all. They don’t have a valve on them or anything so they are free-flowing but that is a positive thing as I am trying to get away from cups that are non-spill now Miss A is older. You have to make sure that the straw clicks back for the drink to come out properly and sometimes Miss A pushes it forward and wonders why she isn’t getting the drink out properly.

The bottle itself is easy to clean. It is dishwasher safe so that is how we clean ours. There is often water still in the bottle from the dishwasher so I have to rinse it and then dry it properly. It is a little difficult to dry because of the way that the bottle is made. Also getting the lid on when you put the drink in it is a little bit awkward but we have got used to it now. I think these bottles are quite handy as they are collapsible. It means that if we ever forget to pack a bottle for Miss A then we can make sure that there is a collapsed one of these in the bag! So these bottles are quite good! We will be using them for some time yet!OHYO, collapsible bottle, bottle, water bottle, drinking bottle, toddlers drinking

Miss A was sent as part of the Haba 75th anniversary a Haba Come with us book which includes a magnetic wooden toy that you have to place on the right part of the page. The one received was about learning all about between, next to, behind etc. The story is very cute in this book. It involves a pirate and his monkey.

Miss A loved this book and she loved putting the monkey in the right places. She doesn’t really know where to put the monkey properly but she is learning! She is a lot better at finding the right place than she was when she first received the book.

I love the fact that the little monkey has a place to be stored in the book. I would lose it otherwise or should I say Miss A would lose it! The book is well made and so is the little monkey. The magnet is easily placed on the right area of the page and doesn’t come off on it’s own.

So a fantastic little book that is great for learning about being behind, next to something!

Miss A received a Haba Rosella clutching toy as part of Haba’s 75th anniversary. Now to be honest I was a bit worried Miss A was too old for this as she is three and a clutching toy is for children younger than her. However she loves it! She even took it to bed with her for a few nights. Now I am not too sure what benefit this toy has for her but she just likes to rattle it sometimes and hold it. Whatever makes her happy makes me happy!

The toy is well made and is quite pretty. I like the fact that you can rattle it and it has string arms. I am sure that the toy will last a long time, long enough for Miss A to give to the new baby. The fact that it is wooden means that it isn’t going to break quickly.

So I was proved wrong and I am quite pleased that Miss A likes Rosella. Just goes to show how long a toy can last!

Miss A received some Haba vegetables as part of Haba’s 75th Anniversary. The set contained a garlic, an onion and a chilli.

We have quite a few fabric fruits and vegetables but none of our existing ones are so detailed as these ones. They are well made and the stitching is rather good! I am not too sure what to say about these three vegetables but they are a nice addition to Miss A’s fruit and vegetable collection.

It seems that our Jack Russell Tilly loves them too. The amount of times I have had to take one of them out of her mouth! She is obsessed with them. I have to be so careful as she makes a hole in them and take all the stuffing out. This would make Miss A rather upset!

So these three vegetables were very well received by Miss A…and Tilly.

I was sent a bag of Lizi’s Original Granola to review. I have only had ‘granola’ in a yoghurt before now and not as a cereal so this was going to be an exciting trial! I must admit that this product is rather nice! It certainly makes a nice breakfast. I tried it on it’s own and tried it with raisins added, I prefer it with raisins. It could be a pregnancy thing though as at the moment I need the sweetness.

I visited my local Waitrose and spotted it in there. The only downside is the price of £4.99. I can’t afford to buy it all the time but I will probably buy it now and again, it is really nice.

From the press release:

The reason Lizi’s is different from all other granolas is that her granola has been made so that it has a low glycemic index which means that the natural sugars present in Lizi’s are released slowly ensuring that your blood sugar levels do not increase too rapidly. This means it keeps you going and feeling full for longer! Lizi’s is also great used with other foods as part of a dessert, such as Key Lime Pie or incorporated into a well-known recipe such as flapjacks or stewed apples. Lizi also has some recipes on her website which are of course as G.I balanced, like her granola and they prove to be just as delicious.

Lizi’s granola comes in seven delicious flavours to ensure everybody’s taste buds are catered for, these flavours include; Original, Treacle Pecan, Passionfruit Pistachio, Mango Macadamia, Pink Apple Cinnamon and Belgian Chocolate and Organic. You can also make other oat based snacks with Lizi’s such as flapjacks, which you will be able to say with confidence have the highest quality ingredients in them.

Miss A received a Munchkin Click Lock Snack Catcher to test. I must say that this product is a lot better than the one we bought last year (http://www.prestonprecious.com/2011/07/munchkin-snack-catcher.html) This new version comes with a lid! Oh this proves to be a fantastic addition especially for travelling and if Miss A doesn’t eat all the contents. I think that this product looks better compared to the other one too.

We haven’t used the other snack catcher for a while but we use the new one regularly. It is all because it has a lid! I found that Miss A pulled off the lid of the old one but with this new one,it has a click lock system, so she cannot open it. A fantastic alteration and means that we are huge fans of this product!

From the Munchkin Website:

  • Ideal for feeding snacks to toddler on the go, snacks stay in dispenser and not on the floor!
  • Soft flaps allow toddler to help themselves to snacks but prevents spills on the floor, car seat or buggy
  • Click Lock lid creates a spill proof seal, stopping toddler from opening
  • Hidden under base, soft lid folds up to create a secure fit and keeps snacks fresh when not being used
  • When folded under base, creates a soft handle for child to hold.
