A couple of weeks ago we went to Frankie and Benny’s restaurant in Preston. It was the first time that we ever went there. We were kindly given vouchers from a PR company to spend there.
We decided to book a table as it was a Saturday when we went. Good job we did, it got quite busy! We totally forgot to tell them about the pushchair, we were lucky though as we had a table that did have a space for it. While walking to the toilets, I noticed that there wasn’t much room for pushchairs. There may be a dedicated storage area but I didn’t think to ask. There were highchairs so that was good! I did need to change Miss A while I was there and I had everything but baby wipes with me (left them in the pushchair) but amazingly there was a pack of baby wipes there! Now that was lucky and it saved me walking back to the pushchair. The changing area was very clean too. In fact everything was clean and tidy.
The staff and Frankie and Benny’s were very good. They served us at the right time. They did forget to get Miss A’s apple juice though but they rectified this after we finished our starter.
We had garlic bread to share between us (not at all garlicky), I had bruschetta which was amazing, the balsamic glaze made it perfect! Russell had the soup of the day (which I can’t remember what it was) and he said that this was fantastic! For the main, I had Mediterranean veg burger and chips, the chips were nice but the Mediterranean veg burger wasn’t very nice unfortunately. Russell had the garlic mushroom and goats cheese calzone. He thoroughly enjoyed this. Miss A had margherita pizza and she didn’t eat it at all. She asked for it, it looked OK but she didn’t really touch it but then she was too into colouring and playing with her balloon.
One thing that I did like. They treated Miss A very well. Especially the lady who I think was the manager. They gave her a little activity pack and a balloon.
Dessert was a bit of a nightmare. We are all vegetarians and they didn’t have a clue what desserts were vegetarian. The lady that served us got who I think was the manager (the person who was great with Miss A) and she went to check the boxes of the desserts but they had all been binned so they didn’t have a clue what was vegetarian. She did say that the lemon sorbet was so we had to have that. I really wanted something else but it was nice enough! Miss A had the fruit salad and she did eat some of this so that was great!
All the food was well presented. The price of the food is not the cheapest but most of it is quality food, maybe a little bit fattening but they do have lighter options, not many of these are vegetarian.
Now for some food pictures…
